Suspend your disbelief for a moment, and suppose - hypothetically - that, once upon a time, dragons really existed. The majestic, wise, and terrible creatures of myth were not mythical at all….
So, for some bizarre, ironic, and just plain inexplicable reason, Animaniacs alumni Rob Paulsen was at this year’s Anthrocon. I can’t figure out how they managed to get him to come along, but it’s clear that whatever charm that worked for him didn’t exactly work for some other prominent figures in American animation. From a messageboard post:
I managed to get a hold of Mike Evanier, cartoon writer/producer (among other things), and jokingly told him if we could get us tress MacNeille or Kath Soucie next year, I would pay him ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
Alas, he gave me the sad news Tress is VERY unlikely to accept ANY invitations to fan stuff; she had several extremely bad experiences with the idiot percantage of the cartoon/furry fandom some time ago, and she understandably hasn’t done anything with the fans since. Very sad. >=(
Just in case you’ve forgotten, Tress MacNielle is, no doubt to her horror and disgust, something of a furry sex symbol. No, seriously. She will probably avoid furries as much as she can for as long as she lives, even if it costs her money. This attitude is not so much the result of decade-old negative experiences with the furry fetish culture as it is an example of common sense, especially among animation professionals.
So how the crap did they manage to get Rob Paulsen to make such an epic lapse in judgement? I honestly don’t know Uncle Kage does it.

(aka a.k.a. Whatever happened to…?)
